Lucrezia Buonvisi - Denied Gazes
In this triptych, the myth of Lucrezia Buonvisi is freed from the shadows of moral judgment to become the emblem of all women forced to sacrifice their freedom. Photography becomes a ritual of remembrance: each shot, like an open wound, invites the viewer to question who the true victim is and who the perpetrator, turning the legend into a reflection on the impossibility for many women to live their own lives, to choose who they truly are.
- I am a prisoner of a life I did not choose
Silence surrounds me. It is a cage. My love was forbidden. I remain imprisoned, voiceless, but my soul screams. And to you I say: do not let them do this again. - The memory of a desperate love
I think of you, lost between those walls, each stone speaks of a lost love and forgotten condemnations. Do not let them tell you who you can be and who you can love. - Faith did not save me
My figure dissolves in a thousand tears, for freedom is an illusion that hurts. They demanded obedience, but I broke their rules.
Do not wait for permission to reclaim your life.
