Latent Sutures
My artistic project stems from a reflection on the fragility of relationships and the violence hidden behind love. Each diptych I create is a fragment of a real story, a tribute to the victims of femicide, and an attempt to transform pain into awareness. My creative process is rooted in empathy: I listen to stories, immerse myself in the details, and try to grasp not only the facts but also the emotions and silences left behind by these tragedies. Every visual element—colors, materials, textures—is carefully chosen to narrate a part of the story.
In Obsession, the red, black, and green bands symbolize passion, darkness, and shattered hope. The woman's profile against the red background expresses the vulnerability of a distorted love, while the velvet with a single green earring marks a life cut short. In Love Dust, the eye with a tear of blood and the mouth evoke the violence suffered by a woman burned alive by her ex-partner—an invitation to look beyond the pain and give voice to those who can no longer speak.
In To Chiara, the golden stones embody memory, while the stylized flowers on a black background evoke the sacredness of remembrance. The tension between the strict arrangement of the stones and the freedom of the forms recalls the contrast between order and chaos. In A Silent Farewell, the dry branch and golden tears evoke a goodbye suspended in time, while the ginkgo, a symbol of resilience, transforms pain into beauty.
Data on violence against women is an essential part of the project, grounding the works in reality and amplifying their meaning. They serve as a reminder that shame does not belong to those who suffer, but to those who commit violence. Latent Sutures evokes invisible wounds that, though hidden, exist and need to be mended. The title suggests both fragility and transformation, narrating through art a journey of denunciation, remembrance, and hope.
