A Chiara

This diptych, through the use of golden stones, pays tribute to Chiara, a symbol of a life shattered by violence. The stones, placed with precision, evoke memory and the importance of remembrance, while the image on the right, with its verticality and golden shapes, represents the anonymity and pain that accompany her death. A dialogue that reflects the tension between her interrupted existence and the tribute owed to her. A tribute to the memory of the woman victim of the femicide in Torre del Lago.

 ***

The golden stones create a stark contrast against the reddish background of the natural landscape, disrupting harmony and altering the perception of the scene. This intervention is not accidental but symbolizes a profound rupture—an element that demands attention and adds a symbolic layer to the landscape. The red tones of the scenery represent the hidden pain and suffering beneath apparent normalcy, evoking emotions that lie beneath the surface. The golden stones, in contrast, recall Chiara’s memories—those moments of happiness and light that shine intensely but are tragically shattered by the brutality of violence, creating a tension between the beauty of remembrance and the harshness of reality.

The rigorous, almost geometric arrangement of the golden stones on the left contrasts with the organic freedom of the forms on the right.

The black panel on the right, adorned with stylized golden flowers, evokes a sense of verticality and minimalism—almost like elements rising skyward or symbols reminiscent of sacred art or antiquity. The flowers symbolize not only Chiara’s life but also the importance of honoring the victims of femicide.

This diptych is an invitation to reflect on gender-based violence, the fragility of life, and the necessity of recognizing and confronting patterns of abuse and control in relationships. My work has the power to transform a story of tragedy into a message of awareness and hope for a better future.
