From 2017 to 2024, in Italy, 878 women have been killed, with femicides representing 85% of the cases, while the other homicides of women are primarily related to robberies or organized crime. These numbers show that the majority of women’s murders are classifiable as femicides, reflecting a stable and concerning trend.

 

In Italy, the number of homicides has decreased, but the number of femicides has remained stable.

Specifically, in 2004, there were 711 homicides, of which 72 were femicides.

In 2021, homicides decreased to 303, while femicides remained stable at 70.

In 2022, the Ministry of the Interior in Italy recorded 319 homicides, of which 125 had female victims.

A total of 140 incidents occurred in a domestic context, with 103 of these affecting women.

Further specifying, 67 of the crimes were committed by partners or ex-partners.
